About Me

With hundreds of psychologists and counselors available, what sets me apart?

First and foremost, I love what I do—and I bring more than 30 years of experience to the work. I earned my doctorate in Clinical Psychology with a subspecialty in Child and Family Therapy, followed by a postdoctoral fellowship at Brown University Medical School, where I also served for nearly a decade as a faculty member training medical students, psychology interns, and postdoctoral fellows. This academic and clinical foundation equipped me to work across the lifespan and in complex, high-stakes systems.

I am also a certified school psychologist and have worked with or consulted to over 20 school districts in Massachusetts. This experience gives me a unique systems-level perspective and an ability to integrate educational, psychological, and family-based interventions—skills especially critical when supporting families navigating trauma, transition, or developmental disruption.

What truly distinguishes my practice is a deep commitment to trauma-informed care and evidence-based intervention. I have extensive experience treating PTSD, anxiety, depression, and behavioral challenges using tools like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Prolonged Exposure (PE), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), and the Unified Protocol. My work has included acute inpatient psychiatric care, executive psychological evaluations, court-involved youth, and veterans facing combat-related trauma. I meet clients where they are—with compassion, structure, and a belief that healing is both possible and hard-earned.

Whether working with a service member readjusting to civilian life, a parent overwhelmed by technology's influence on their child, or a single adult navigating emotional and relational challenges, I approach each person with respect, clarity, and collaboration. I don’t offer a one-size-fits-all model. Instead, I begin by understanding the whole person and then blend directive coaching and supportive counseling to foster sustainable, meaningful change.

My goal is to help people become the strongest, most grounded versions of themselves—especially when life feels anything but manageable. I bring not only technical skill, but deep presence, clinical judgment, and a career-long dedication to being where I’m most needed.

Specializing in Parenting, Children and Teens, Relationships, Stress Management, Couples Counseling and Executive Coaching

Parenting

I understand firsthand the challenges of parenting today. Having raised two sons during the height of the technology era—and through the uncertainty of the COVID-19 pandemic—I know how overwhelming it can feel. Despite these challenges, my children are thriving, and much of that success stems from the parenting approach I use and now teach. I draw from a specialized model that blends nurturance, structure, and flexibility, informed by the principles of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). In my parent coaching practice, I guide caregivers in applying this balanced, evidence-based approach through concrete strategies, real-life examples, and tools that promote connection, accountability, and long-term resilience.

Couples Therapy

Couples counseling requires a highly supportive and attuned approach, as both partners are often feeling vulnerable and emotionally exposed. I take my lead from the couple—sometimes working with both partners together, and other times individually—depending on what will best support the relationship. My role is to create a safe space where each person feels heard and understood, while also guiding the couple toward healthier communication, emotional regulation, and shared goals.

Using tools drawn from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), the Unified Protocol, and evidence-based couples therapy models, I help partners recognize patterns, reduce reactivity, and build connection. We work together to improve emotional flexibility, listening skills, and perspective-taking—all of which are foundational to lasting, respectful, and resilient relationships.

Children and Teens

Children and teens—alongside their parents—sometimes need an outside perspective. I provide a safe space where young people can talk openly and where families can learn practical strategies to manage anxiety, stress, and the negative thinking patterns that are increasingly common in today’s culture. The teen years can be turbulent and often come with emotional growing pains for the entire family. I help teens and parents navigate these transitions by distinguishing between typical developmental challenges and behaviors that may signal something more serious. My work is grounded in evidence-based practices, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and a unified approach model that integrates emotional regulation, communication skills, and family collaboration. Often, what teens need most is an objective, nonjudgmental counselor—and a plan that brings clarity and connection to the whole family system.

Stress Management

We all experience stress—but unmanaged stress can take a significant toll on both our mental and physical health. It’s one of the leading contributors to immune system suppression and can exacerbate a wide range of medical conditions. While we can’t always eliminate the sources of stress, we can absolutely change how we respond to it.

In my practice, I teach clients to manage stress using a combination of evidence-based techniques, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), and the Unified Protocol. These approaches help reduce emotional reactivity, build resilience, and improve daily functioning. I also incorporate practical tools such as breathwork, relaxation techniques, and mindfulness meditation to support nervous system regulation and overall well-being.

Relationships

Whether you’re married, divorced, dating, or navigating a complicated relationship, I’ve been there—and I’ve helped hundreds of clients work through emotionally charged and confusing dynamics. In today’s texting-dominant world, maintaining meaningful relationships can be challenging, but it’s absolutely possible with the right strategies and clear intentions. In fact, some of the most transformative growth happens during periods of relational strain.

Using the principles of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and the Unified Protocol, I help clients identify unhelpful thinking patterns, improve emotional regulation, and build communication strategies that feel both authentic and sustainable. Together, we work through real-life relational challenges with compassion and clarity—so you can show up as your best self in the relationships that matter most.

Executive Coaching

Having been trained and employed as an executive coach at Korn Ferry—one of the world’s largest executive management consulting firms—I understand the unique challenges that leaders face. Executive coaching at the highest levels requires more than insight into business strategy; it demands psychological expertise, performance analysis, and structured goal-setting.

My approach blends leadership science with evidence-based clinical methods, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), the Unified Protocol, and performance psychology tools. I work with executives to clarify their goals, interpret organizational feedback, and challenge unhelpful patterns that may limit effectiveness. The result is increased self-awareness, better decision-making, improved resilience, and accelerated professional growth—benefiting both the individual and the organization.
